Trimming Of Mold Products After Vulcanization:


When rubber mold products are vulcanized, the rubber will flow out along the parting surface of the mold, forming overflow rubber edges, also called burrs or flash edges. The amount and thickness of the rubber edges depend on the structure, precision, and The parallelism of the plate of the plate vulcanizer and the amount of glue remaining. The products produced by the current endless molds have very thin rubber edges, and sometimes they are taken off when the mold is drawn or can be removed with a light rub. However, this kind of mold is costly and easily damaged, and most rubber molded products need to be trimmed after vulcanization.

  1. Rubber products are manually trimmed
  • Manual trimming is an ancient trimming method, which includes manually punching the plastic edge with a punch; removing the plastic edge with scissors, scraping, etc. The quality and speed of the rubber products that are manually trimmed will also vary from person to person, requiring trimming
  • The geometric dimensions of the finished product must meet the requirements of the product drawing, without scratches, scratches and deformation. Before trimming, you must know the trimming position and technical requirements, master the correct trimming method and use the correct tools.
  1. Rubber products mechanical trimming

Mechanical trimming refers to the trimming process of rubber mold products using various special machines and corresponding process methods. It is currently a more advanced trimming method.

  1. (1) Mechanical punching and trimming use a press machine, a die, and a punch to remove the rubber edge of the product. This method is suitable for products and model products whose rubber edges can be placed on the die or the bottom plate of the punching knife, such as bottle stoppers, leather bowls, etc. For products with high rubber content and low hardness, the impact method is generally used to cut the edges. This can reduce the uneven edges and side depressions caused by the greater elasticity of the products; while the rubber content is lower and the hardness is higher. The products can be punched directly by knife-edge die method. In addition, punching is also divided into cold cutting and eager cutting. Cold cutting refers to punching at room temperature. It requires higher punching pressure and better quality of punching; eager cutting refers to higher temperature-f, When punching, it is necessary to prevent the high temperature from contacting the product for too long, which will affect the product quality.
  2. (2) Mechanical cutting trimming is suitable for trimming products with larger dimensions, and cutting tools are used. Yifang cutting machines are dedicated machines, and different products use different cutters. For example, after vulcanization, there are rubber strips of different lengths on the surface of the tire and the exhaust line, and the rubber strips must be removed with a grooved tool under the condition of tire rotation.
  3. (3) Mechanical grinding and trimming For mold rubber products with inner holes and outer circles, grinding is usually used. The cutting tool for grinding is a grinding wheel with a certain thickness of particles, and the precision of grinding and trimming is low, and the grinding surface is relatively rough. There may be residual sand particles, which affects the use effect.
  4. (4) Low-temperature shot blasting trimming For fine products with high trimming quality requirements, such as O-rings, small leather bowls, etc., this method can be used for trimming. The product is quickly cooled with liquid nitrogen or dry ice to below the brittle temperature, and then metal or plastic pellets are sprayed at high speed to break the flash off and complete the trimming.
  5. (5) Low-temperature brush grinding and trimming. It uses two nylon brushes rotating around a horizontal axis to remove the rubber edge brushes of frozen rubber products.
  6. (6) Low-temperature drum trimming is the earliest method of freezing trimming. It uses the impact force generated by the rotation of the drum and the friction between the products to break and fall off the flash of the products that have been frozen below the brittle temperature. , The shape of the drum is generally octagonal to increase the impact force of the product in the drum. The rotation speed of the drum should be moderate. Adding abrasives can improve efficiency. For example, the trimming process of the rubber plug of the electrolytic capacitor is to use a low-temperature drum trimming.
  7. (7) Low-temperature vibration trimming is also called vibration frozen trimming. The products are helically vibrated in a circular sealed box. There is a strong impact between the products and between the products and the abrasive, causing the frozen brittle rubber edges to break drop. Low-temperature vibration trimming is better than low-temperature drum trimming, the product damage rate is lower, and the production efficiency is higher.
  8. (8) Low-temperature swing and jitter trimming is suitable for small or micro products or micro rubber products with metal skeletons. It can be used with abrasives to trim the holes, corners, and rubber edges in the grooves.

 

Machine Operation Instructions:
  • When the motor is running, the oil enters the oil pump from the oil storage tank oil filter and enters the control valve through the oil pump drain pipe. At this time, if the manual control valve is in the closed position, the oil enters the oil cylinder through the control valve and the oil pipe to drive the plunger. And the lower template platform rises. As mentioned above, when the pressure reaches the upper limit specified value, the electric contact pressure gauge contact control stops the operation of the oil pump motor, and the check valve is automatically closed, so that the pressure in the cylinder is maintained (the upper limit of the pressure gauge is up to Really adjust to the required working pressure, but can not exceed 16.0Mpa). The pressure is maintained to drop until the minimum required working pressure is adjusted. The electrical contact pressure gauge contacts control the operation of the oil pump. The oil pressure rose again. Until the vulcanization heating time is completed. The motor stops. Open the mold to take the workpiece.
  • Fix the mold between the upper and lower platforms. Generally, it is heated by an automatic temperature control electric heating tube. The rubber is heated for a few minutes. That is, it is vulcanized to fix properties and shapes. The vulcanizer is somewhat functional like a steamed bun.
  • If the manual control valve is opened, there is the self-weight effect of the lifting platform and the plunger, and the oil in the oil cylinder is pressed back to the oil storage tank through the manual control valve and the oil pipe of the oil cylinder, the lower template hot plate is lowered, and the electric contact pressure gauge is controlled. On the control valve and in communication with the hydraulic cylinder.
